The FA Project Charitable Giving Time Line
At the FA Project, we pride ourselves in giving back to families and individuals affected by Friedreich's Ataxia. Since our inception, we have provided everything from power wheelchairs to Travel Grants, in which we give applicants the opportunity to attend FA Symposiums where they learn and meet others with Friedreich's Ataxia. Below is a timeline that highlights what we have accomplished thus far as an organization and what we plan to do in helping those affected by FA:
2013
- Donated $800 towards the cost of food for FA families from across the US to attend the Second FA Adventure day held in Beverly Massachusetts with proceed benefiting FARA
- Donated $1250 to the Third Annual FA Woodstock
- October-Travel Grants will be awarded to attend the Annual FA Symposium sponsored by The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
- Supported The Ataxian Athlete Initiative via donation of $3,500
2012
- Donated $1,000 to the Third Annual FA Woodstock
- $8000 awarded in travel grants to 11 applicants nationwide reaching as far away as Alaska to attend the 2012 Annual Friedreich's Ataxia Symposium in Pennsylvania
- $4000 to support The Ataxian Athlete Initiative an organization that provides adaptive sports equipment to Ataxians
- $1200 to repair an automobile to restore a person's independence and mobility
- $1,000 to support the longstanding annual Fuzzy Buzzy Golf Tournament proceeds to FARA
- $1,000 to aid the National Ataxia Foundation's Travel Scholarship Program for their empowering and informative Annual Meeting
- $830 to cover a copayment for surgery to relieve some of the pains associated with FA
2011
- Donated $1,000 to the National Ataxia Foundation to fund travel scholarships to attend the Annual Membership Meeting in Los Angeles, California.
- Jamie Plourde and her family donated a power wheelchair to the FA Project who then gave the wheelchair to Bridget Morris
- Donated $1,000 to the Second Annual FA Woodstock
- Gave a Jazzy Select Power Chair to Geoff Fox
- October-Travel Grants will be awarded to attend the Annual FA Symposium sponsored by The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
- Supported The Ataxian Athlete Initiative via donation of $3,500 for both years 2010 & 2011
- Fuzzy Buzzy Golf Platinum Sponsorship
2010
- Donated $250 to cardiac research in FA in memory of Keith Andrus
- Gave Travel Scholarships to four families affected by FA for the Third Annual Friedreich's Ataxia Symposium hosted by The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
- Fuzzy Buzzy Golf Platinum Sponsorship
- Supported The Ataxian Athlete Initiative via donation of $2,000 for both years 2010 & 2011
- Rose Chonka and her family generously donated a power wheelchair to the FA Project who sent the wheelchair to a young Virginia man named Joe Vaughn. He had this to say: "The chair is the greatest thing to ever happen to me. I use it to work in. I got a new job at Wal-Mart and it works great for me. I greatly appreciate the donation and many thanks to you all. Thanks again Joe Vaughan"
2009
- Using the funds earned during the FA Project's Inaugural Event we were able to sponsor five applicants to attend the Second Annual Friedreich's Ataxia Symposium sponsored by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
